Indo-Pacific: from Mauritius and the Maldives to Papua New Guinea; from the Philippines to New Caledonia.

Habitat:

Lagoons and coral reefs, between 1 and 20 metres among sponges, seaweed and soft corals.

Size:

10 to 12 cm on average, 15 cm maximum.

Diet:

Little fish.

 

This species can adapt its colours to suit its environment. A master of camouflage!

It uses its pectoral and pelvic fins to walk along the seabed rather than swim. It lives among seaweed and coral and uses its lure to attract prey.
