1. Introduction

NAUSICAÁ collects and processes your personal data for the purpose of providing you with a user-friendly and optimal visit experience and to provide you with relevant access to information on the marine world according to your preferred subjects.

We also want to get to know you better and tailor our products and services to match your preferences as closely as possible.

As the protection of your privacy is of great importance to us, you will find in this Privacy Policy the necessary information on the type of personal data we process, how we use it, your rights in this respect and how you can exercise them.

This Privacy Policy applies to the processing of personal data in relation to all products and services offered by NAUSICAA to its visitors, via the websites, via mobile applications, in customer surveys, through competitions, through actions or events, via Wi-Fi, via the terminals present within our exhibitions or in connection with any other use of our products and services.

2. Personal data controller

The personal data you share with us, either explicitly or automatically, are collected and processed by or on behalf of NAUSICAÁ Centre National de la Mer, the registered office of which is located at Boulevard Sainte Beuve 62003 BOULOGNE SUR MER (FRANCE), registered with the Trade and Companies Register of Boulogne sur Mer under SIRET number 378 074 744 00020, and for which the correspondence address is Boulevard Sainte Beuve BP 189 62203 BOULOGNE SUR MER (FRANCE).

NAUSICAÁ may share this data with two close partners (other legal entities, the World Ocean Network and the NAUSICAÁ Endowment Fund, hereinafter jointly referred to as "NAUSICAÁ") for the purpose of offering you its services in the most optimal manner possible.

3. Services

NAUSICAÁ aims to provide marine enthusiasts with a unique visitor experience, offering not only a discovery of the seabed, but also alternative content and tailor-made events, as well as unique opportunities for relaxation and discovery, providing optimal visitor comfort and a wider access to news about the Ocean, the Blue Economy and more broadly, about the Blue Society.

Firstly, NAUSICAÁ attempts to achieve this "Before - During - After" ambition by allowing visitors to prepare and personalise their visits before they come to NAUSICAÁ and by offering them an enhanced visit during and after they have come to the site, by providing them with information on their favourite subjects online or through recommendations by e-mail based on their personal preferences. Secondly, NAUSICAÁ is committed to simplifying the ticket purchasing system, notably by offering mobile ticketing applications, selling packaged offers, etc.

These services also include informing customers about the above ambitions via newsletters, e-mails, social networks and other electronic channels.

However, to use certain services, it will be necessary to create a account and to provide the requested data.

4. What data is processed by Nausicaá? How does Nausicaá obtain it?

In connection with the services (such as the sale of tickets online), NAUSICAÁ collects and processes the following categories of personal data, always on the basis that it is you who decides to what extent you wish to enhance and "personalise" your relationship with NAUSICAÁ. Therefore, the following data will not be collected from third parties, but will be requested directly from you, for example, in connection with the purchase of a product, participation in a survey or a competition or the registration and management of your customer account:

Finally, some data is collected automatically by cookies and other systems that collect information. This includes, for example, your IP address, browser type and language, the duration of your visit, your browsing behaviour and the pages you visited and the URL from which you were directed to our website. Processing for the purposes mentioned in points (1), (4), (7) and (8) are necessary for the conclusion or performance of our agreement with you.

Processing for the purposes mentioned in points (2), (3), (v) and (6) and (9) above is necessary for our legitimate interests to improve and promote our products and services, as well as to provide a personalised experience for our customers. To the extent required by law, certain processing operations for the purposes set out in point (2) will require your consent.

NAUSICAÁ may use your personal data to contact you directly, by post, by phone or electronically (e.g. by e-mail, text message or social networks). For e-mail communications, you will always have the possibility to "unsubscribe".

6. How long does Nausicaá keep my personal data?

NAUSICAÁ only retains your personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes described.

Thus, information about the purchases you make or the questions you ask us is only kept for a period of 3 years following the purchase/processing of your question, unless legally required. The data we retain to personalise our communications to you and to keep you informed of our products and services is deleted 3 years after your last active interaction with NAUSICAÁ. This prevents information that has become obsolete from being retained. We retain certain data for a period of 10 years, but only for evidential purposes in the event of disputes or in order to be able to respond to a legal request from a public authority.

At the end of the applicable retention period, the data will be erased or made anonymous.

7. Can Nausicaá transfer my personal data to other organisations?

To fulfil the purposes described in article 3, NAUSICAÁ may use what are known as "subcontractors". They act solely on our behalf and therefore, will only process your personal data on our instructions and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

For example, we use suppliers to provide marketing, communication, logistics and IT services, to personalise and optimise our service, to process credit card transactions and debt collections, to limit fraud in credit card and other payment transactions, to provide customer service, to collect debts, to organise competitions, etc. These suppliers may be given access to your personal data or other information in the course of providing these services. We only authorise these companies to process your personal data insofar as is necessary for the provision of their services. We also ensure that these subcontractors guarantee an appropriate level of security with regard to data protection.

In addition, we may transfer your personal data to and share it with NAUSICAÁ's close partners, who are then considered to be processors or joint data controllers, as appropriate.

We will not pass on your personal data to other parties for activities other than those described above and each transmission is made on the basis of a legal reason for the processing operation. Our partners may only use the data for the intended purposes and only for as long as is necessary for the collaboration.

Some pages of the website may also contain social plug-ins. For example, by logging in to our products and services via social networks, such as Facebook and Instagram, you may also share certain information with these third parties, including your browsing history. The plug-ins referring to these social media are managed by said social media. These social media sometimes store cookies on your device. As these plug-ins are executed by said social media, they are governed by the terms of use and privacy policy of these social networks, over which NAUSICAÁ has no control. Therefore, in addition to our Cookie Statement, we recommend that you also read the terms of use and privacy policies of the networks in question. Our Privacy Policy only governs the use of data that we collect and process ourselves.

As a matter of principle, your personal data is not processed outside the European Union and we ensure insofar as possible that our "subcontractors" also respect this principle. If, in exceptional cases, they still process your personal data outside the EU, we will ensure, through contractual or other measures, that this data receives an adequate level of protection comparable to the level of protection applied within the EU.

8. What rights can I exercise with regard to my personal data?

You have the right to obtain access to your personal data, to require rectification if said data are inaccurate or incomplete and to request that they be deleted. However, it should be borne in mind that we cannot always delete all the personal data requested, for example, when the processing of such data is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

In addition, you have the right to have the processing restricted in the following cases:

• You dispute the accuracy of this personal data: the use of such data will be restricted for a period of time that will allow NAUSICAÁ to verify the accuracy of the personal data.

• The processing of your personal data is unlawful: you object to such data being deleted and demand instead that the use of your data be restricted.

• NAUSICAÁ no longer needs your data for the purposes of the original processing operations, but the data is still required for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims: instead of deleting your data, the use of your data is limited to the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims;

• As long as no decision is taken on the exercise of your right to object to the processing, you request the restriction of use of your personal data

If you wish to pass on the personal data that you have actively provided to another service provider, this is also possible. This is what we call the "right to data portability".

Right to object

Whenever processing is based on a legitimate interest of NAUSICAÁ, you have the right to object.

You have the right to object at any time, free of charge and without justification, to the intended processing of your data for marketing purposes, including profiling.

Right to withdraw consent

If the processing is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing based on consent carried out before the withdrawal of such consent.

For more information about the foregoing rights, please refer to our FAQs on the NAUSICAÁ website(s).

They will be given the opportunity to do delete the minor's data.
