What to do in Le Touquet when it’s raining?

Owing to the oceanic climate there, the weather in Le Touquet can sometimes be a little bit temperamental.

Indoor activities for children

For an outing that’s both educational and fun, Nausicaá, which is less than one hour’s drive from Touquet-Paris-Plage, would be a great choice. Visiting the biggest aquarium in Europe offers you an ideal opportunity to discover the underwater world in a playful way. Its exhibitions, activities and workshops – which all change regularly – will allow you to transform a rainy day into an unforgettable moment both for you and your children.

What to do in Le Touquet when it’s raining: historical and cultural visits

For history enthusiasts, a rainy day could offer a good excuse to visit Le Touquet’s historical sites.

  • Everyone says so, Sainte-Jeanne d’Arc church is well worth the detour with its superb stained-glass windows and typical early 20th century architecture. It should also be noted that it was the first church in France to be named in honour of Joan of Arc.
  • The resort’s lighthouse, commissioned in 1951, is also another unmissable feature. Head for the exhibition in the old head-lighthouse-keeper’s house, to find out more about its history and that of the town. Once you’ve reached the top at a height of 57 metres after having climbed 274 steps, you’ll be able to admire the whole town, the sea and the coast. A picture-postcard landscape that will leave you with some lovely memories, even if it is a bit cloudy.
  • Lastly, don’t miss Le Touquet-Paris-Plage museum famed for housing works by the painters from the nearby Étaples School. Its permanent collections, and its contemporary ones too – mixing modern and contemporary art, older works and photographs – should be a joy for all art lovers.

Le Touquet: all you need to have a good time on a rainy day

If you don’t know what to do to have a good time in Le Touquet when it’s raining, the seaside resort has a wealth of tourist sites worth seeing over a weekend, even if the sun isn’t shining.

  • For example, you can make the most of your trip to Le Touquet to take a stroll down Rue Saint-Jean. Known for its architecture, and for its many shops and restaurants, Rue Saint-Jean is the heart of the town of Le Touquet, leading down to the sea front.
  • If you are in town for the weekend, make sure you pay a visit to the covered market, which has existed since 1932. You’ll be able to chat with the producers and discover the local specialities.
  • Lastly, you can also make the most of your stay to discover the famous Casino Barrière Le Touquet. Traditional gambling, slot machines, brasserie, shows… The largest gaming and leisure space on the Opal Coast is an unmissable spot for having a good time. Also called the “Casino du Palais” or “Casino de la Forêt”, it first opened its doors more than a century ago and is a veritable institution today.
