United Nations Ocean Conference 2025: an appeal to rally young citizens

If you are aged between 18 and 30 and you are interested in preserving the ocean, Nausicaá is offering you the chance to get involved and make your voice heard at the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference, which will take place from the 9th to the 13th of June 2025 in Nice.

By joining forces with young people committed to the ocean, you can share your concerns about the ocean and the threats it faces, and devise solutions to ensure that the ocean is used sustainably and responsibly. You will join a delegation made up of young people from 5 continents and from all walks of life.

Between May 2024 and June 2025, Nausicaá will work with you through the various stages that will lead up to you presenting your case for the ocean at the Conference in Nice. 

• There will be 5 thematic online workshops throughout 2024, mobilising young people on every continent. Each session will produce a summary of the participants' thoughts on the topics of the ocean and climate change, the high seas and the seabed, biodiversity, marine pollution, the deep sea and deep-sea mining.
• In March 2025, the young citizens will attend a seminar at Nausicaá to finalise the results of the workshops and prepare their presentation for the conference in Nice.
• Finally, in June 2025, around ten young people will present the group's work at the conference and attend plenary sessions.

Drawing on its expertise in scientific mediation and its experience in mobilising young people, Nausicaá was commissioned by the Directorate-General for European Maritime Affairs and Fisheries to recruit young people who are passionately interested in the ocean and prepare them to represent the views of their generation.

Nausicaá will leverage its network of partners to facilitate dialogue between experts and representatives of young people.
