Year of the Sea

Why do fish come in different shapes and colours?

As part of the Year of the Sea, Nausicaá and Esprit sorcier explain why fish come in so many colours and shapes.

As part of the Year of the Sea, Nausicaá has teamed up with l'Esprit sorcier to produce 5 videos on marine subjects. The videos will be published regularly, along with those of other participants, leading up to the United Nations Conference on the Oceans - UNOC 3 - to be held in Nice from 9 to 13 June 2025.

A mouth on its belly and a flat body or a streamlined body made for speed, "passe-partout" or flamboyant colours: the shape of fish and their colour say a lot about their way of life.

Join Coline, a scientific mediator at Nausicaá, as she explains how fish morphology and lifestyle are linked.
