Tour of the "Maison de la Beurière" house

As you step through the door of this authentic fisherman's cottage built in 1870, you will discover the reconstructed home of a family in the 1900s, where furniture and objects bear witness to a harsh, simple and devout lifestyle. Engravings, photos, objects and costumes will take you back to the origins of fishing in Boulogne, the development of its techniques and its port.

To get to the Maison de la Beurière, you need to climb the Rue du Machicoulis (about 80 steps)

Starting from the Calvaire des Marins (Seamen's chapel), perched on the cliff, discover a breath-taking panorama of the harbour, the Strait of Dover and the English coastline. You will then make your way through the stepped streets of the fishermen's quarter to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, France's leading fishing port, where 36,000 metric tons of fish are landed every year.
