To the rhythm of the tides
Explore the concept of life with the species found on our coastline and discover the sea wrack
Courses : Living Ocean, Dynamic Ocean
Levels : Key Stage 2
Duration : 1h
Number of participants : 110 seats
Objectives : Discover the biodiversity of our coastline. Learn interesting facts about different species. Explore the criteria for life: one day I was born, I feed myself and I grow. When I die, I can leave a trace on the beach in the seaweed.
Learning method : cognitive, playful, sensory
Message : The sea is full of life, living creatures that are born, feed and grow. When they die, these living creatures, whether animals or plants, sometimes leave their footprints in the seaweed.
Description : After high tide or a storm, the sea leaves traces of sea creatures on the beach: shells, carapaces, feathers, etc. Once on the beach, they form what is known as the “sea wrack”. The science mediator will use the strandline and a binocular magnifying glass to help pupils discover marine biodiversity and the characteristics of each species.
Additional tools : Documents will be given at the end of the workshop for further study or to evaluate your group.
